How to choose Summer Camps for kids in Dwarka

Summer is knocking the door and so is Summer Vacation. Parents in Dwarka must be thinking how to keep their wards busy during vacations. There are several ways through which you can keep your child occupied during vacations. Keeping children busy during vacations is extremely important where both parents are working professional. In subcity like Dwarka most families with working parents depend on a network of caregivers to manage work and family demands. Summer camp generally starts mid may. You will hear about several of camps which appear to be similar, but each camp has its own objective. In some apartment complex, Residents Welfare Association or Apartment Owners Association comes forward to organize a summer camp for the children in the apartment. Summer camp varies from day camps, sleep-away summer camp or month-long summer camps.

Most schools in Dwarka organize Summer camp. Generally they open it for their own students but many schools do allow kids from outside. Generally you have to make arrangements for droping & pick up the child from School which is generally painful & can actually mar all your plans for summer camp. If you have several kids from the same sector or apartment You can talk to the cab provide or even to the school & they will run a cab for you.Tips for Choosing Summer Camp

My advise, just consider this as a pass time activity with some byproduct of learning new skills. But generally it is for fun & keeping kids busy than watching TV all through the day or playing video games. If you keep too many expectations then you will feel the frustation.

DDA Sports complex also Oragnizes lot of summar camps like swimming, skating, TT, aerobics etc. Do contact them. You don't need DDAs membership to get your child registered there. It is generally cheaper than most schools as schools keep the fees same as the monthly tution fees. With Dwarka DDA sports complex you will have flexibility of timings, with schools you will not.

Summer Camp is not just camp that makes kids busy when parents are busy in their work. Summer camp allows kids to feel a sense of independence, builds self-esteem, try new things and provides your kids an opportunity to learn on nature and the outdoors. Therefore choosing a summer camp plays vital role. Following are some useful tips for choosing right summer camp.

» Decide together: Choosing Summer Camp is not merely deciding your budget and convenience. Summer Camp is a form of vacation, a learning experience, or a bit of both. Before you choose a Summer Camp, discuss with your kid whether your child would like to go to a day or overnight camp. Try to find out more about the likes and dislikes of your child. Discuss with your kids about special interests that your child wants to explore, expectations of the camp, fun and entertainment, learning new skills etc. Write down your goals and keep them in mind when planning camp activities. However, you should not force your child to take-up hobby classes or camp if your child is not interested.

» Make a List of Summer Camp: Choosing a summer camp program for your child involves some important research. Today there are number of summer camps such as hobby classes, Adventure Camp, Camp for awareness of nature and outdoor, learning new skills, arts and craft classes, cooking classes, computer courses etc. Check size of a camp, list of activities, whether day or overnight camp, Age of Kids, how close to home is the camp, cost of camp and discounts offered, opportunity to learn new skill, objective of camp etc. Make the list of service providers or Summer Camp organizers available in your city or neighborhood.

» Safety and emergency plans: The camp organizer must have provisions and medically trained staff to handle emergency or incase something goes wrong. You can ask for checklist or list of items you need to provide when your kid or children attending the summer camp. Find out what the camp’s rules and medical staff work at the camp.

» Ratio of staff members: Check that the staff-to-child ratio is appropriate for different age groups. It is recommended to have One staff member for every five campers ages 4 and 5,every six campers ages 6 to 8, every eight campers ages 9 to 14, every 10 campers ages 15 to 17 respectively.

» Ask Questions: Before you choose a summer camp ensure that the camp is safe, experienced and the camp will provide your kid an opportunity to learn new skills along with entertainment. You can ask questions to director of camp or counselors to clear your doubts. Ask questions such as how long it’s been operating, what licenses it has, How does the camp recruit staff, ratio of counselors to campers, Do counselors receive first-aid/CPR training, who will be driving kids on field trips, Duration of Camp, whether day camp or overnight camp etc. Ask about safety measures adopted, any previous accidents in camp etc. You can also ask referral of previous campers and schools attended summer camp last year. Familiarize yourself with any camp regulations regarding food and money.

» Choose One: Once you discussed and noted your kid’s likes and dislikes, shortlist 3 to 5 Summer Camp in your city or neighborhood that you feel best for this summer vacation. Eliminate one by one discussing with your kid and family members. Last you will have two or three summer camp which you can visit and talk to director or organizers of camp. Choose one summer camp that you feel your kid will enjoy and keep your kid busy this summer vacation.
When selecting a camp ask other parents, relatives or neighbor for recommendations. This can help you select a camp. Pick a camp according to your child’s interests. Taking a best friend along can be more than double the fun. Consider arranging for a first-time camper to attend with a close friend or relative. Tell your child about the activities offered and share brochures that you may have about the camp. Most summer camps provide supply lists. Pack according to what is listed.

You have another month to go before vacations start but it makes sense to start think about your options.

So kids get ready to enjoy your summer holidays this year!!!!

The thing to be done by the applicants of DDA Housing Scheme 2010 is to visit the official website of Delhi Development Authority where the applicant can get the list of applicants who have won the DDA Draw Results 2011 in the pdf file that is made avail on DDA website.

This can be done by entering the application number or the registration number along with the scheme they have selected in the category offered by Delhi Development Authority.

DDA has now made available the results of the much awaited DDA housing scheme of 2010. The list of successful candidates can be downloaded from the official website of Delhi Development Authority. The list of 1021 pages displays the complete details of the successful applicants which includes form number, father's name and details of the flat allotted to the applicant.

There has been lot of speculation about the time of these results however it has to be said that DDA has done a commendable job to make the results public before the expected time to clear off the anxiety among the 7.53 lakhs applicants for over 16 thousand flats in the various parts of Delhi.

The draw was conducted amidst the tight security arrangements and huge gathering of people at CDAC’s sector-62 office. The proceedings were minutely observed via live footage on the television placed outside the hall by the number of applicants who gathered at the place of draw.

About 7.53 lakh people have applied for the 16,000 flats on offer. “This time, the exercise is more stringent than ever. Applicants have to make payments from their own accounts and details will be sent to the IT department for verification. This will rule out the involvement of speculators and property dealers,” the official said.

Dwarka Expressway still far from a reality

Current Status of Dwarka Expressway to Gurgaon Manesar:

GURGAON: Zero kilometre from the Dwarka Expressway Hurry to avail inaugural discounts, such SMSes might be flooding your mobile inbox for quite sometime now. The state governments much touted project Northern Peripheral Road (NPR) also called the Dwarka Expressway which has become the USP (unique selling point) for over two dozen builders, who have projects lined up on the stretch, still remains a dream.

According to officials at the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), they are yet to begin with the tendering process for the project. It means that the groundwork on the Expressway, as being assured by some developers, is just a far-fetched sales pitch.

The proposed 18 kilometre long and 150 meter wide Expressway (which will connect Dwarka and NH-8) has been in news due to several pending litigations from both residents and industrialists who have their plots coming in the alignment of the road.

Of 18 kilometres, the state government has 12.5 kilometres completely free from litigation. While the remaining 5.5 kilometres land is under litigation in bits and pieces. According to records, of 661 acres to be built as the NPR, barely 26 acres in fragments is under stay from court. However, this less that five percent land has put brakes on almost one-third of the total project.

Maximum land under litigation is in the New Palam Vihar area while remaining pieces are spread across sectors like 100, 102,103, among others. We are at the final stages of preparing the paper for inviting tenders for the project which will likely be floated sometime in March, confirmed a HUDA official.

The NPR will also decongest Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, particularly near Delhi-Gurgaon boarder toll plaza which has witnessed higher-than-expected traffic volume growth.

If the NPR comes up on time and the proposed housing projects are made available in the market, the expanded supply would correct property prices in areas like the Sohna Road and Golf Course Extension Road.

The flood of SMSes and emails from or on behalf of builders like Era (sector 103), Earth Infrastructure (sector 112), Landmark (sector 103), Rahejas (sector 108), Ansals Housing & Siddhartha (sector 106), to a name a few from the list, sell Expressway as the key point. There does not seem to be any other selling point, exerts Dr Sanjay Sharma of QuBREX.

Developers market their products on the basis of letter of intent proposed Metro station, Expressway, etc. It is incorrect to make a proposed project a USP since there is no surety. In this case, developers must inform the customer about the ground reality, explained Ankur Sood, VP, residential market, North India, Jones Lang LaSalle.

Meanwhile, the earth works being carried out in some portions by the government departments has suddenly stopped. Market analysts have started raising a question on the states will to rapidly complete the project which was floated more than five years ago.

The state has already issued licenses to developers and collected external development charges (EDC) and internal development charges (IDC) from them. The developers on their end have invited bookings and will charge these from its customers.

All the land that has been acquired for the project is from public money. It is such huge wastage of public resources which could have been moved for better purpose, asserted Ajay Dabas, director, Certes Realty Ltd, an NCR-based reality firm.

How to remain Healthy & Fit in Dwarka?

Dwarka is a paradise for health lovers & fitness seekers. We are lucky to be in Dwarka. There are plenty of options in Dwarka to keep you busy with so many fitness centers, DDA Sports club, so many green parks almost in each sector of Dwarka.

But with such a busy life these days & people are getting caught in mad habit of spending most of their time either in front of television or computers browsing social websites. It requires an innovative thought process & planning to stay fit in limited availability of time.

Drink lot of water:

Keeping your body hydrated is very important. Drinking water every couple of hours is beneficial in keeping your body systems running smoothly. Of course, one would drink more if engaged in a concentrated workout! I don't think the average person drinks enough water; this is something we could all improve on.

Green Tea: Make it part of your Life:

Though it’s more popular in China or Japan, but I am sure there must be some stores in Dwarka who must be stocking Chinese or Japanese tea. You can also try Indian green tea as well.

Take 3 green tea bags and steep them in boiling water. Once steeped pour into a juice pitcher to which you add a teaspoon of honey. Stir together and add some fresh lemon slices. Add some ice cubes to this and refrigerate. Drink this every few hours or as thirst acquires.

Some of the popular benefits of Green tea:

• It is used to treat multiple sclerosis.
• It is used for treatment and prevention of cancer.
• It is used to stop Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
• It is used to raise the metabolism and increase fat oxidation.
• It reduces the risk of heart diseases and heart attacks by reducing the risk of thrombosis.
• It reduces the risk of esophageal cancer.
• Drinking green tea inhibits the growth of certain cancer cells, reduces the level of cholesterol in blood, and improves the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol.
• It is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular diseases
• It is used to treat impaired immune function. .
• Some researches show that, drinking green tea regularly may help prevent tooth decay by killing the bacteria which causes the dental plaque.

Eat more frequently to stay healthy:

It’s a big myth that eating less or fasting more will help someone stay fit & reduce weight. Especially in India girls reduce their food intake once they find that they are putting on weight. But most of the time that never helps & finally they end up visiting VLCC or some weight control clinics who are making big money out of this.
It’s a very important need especially for Indians to understand how our body functions and how we get fat accumulation in our body. Several studies has proved it again & again that eating less or in larger frequency impacts the metabolic mechanism of body & make your body to work in a hibernated mode to save energy which thus causes less consumption of calories and more accumulation of fat in our bodies as well as also responsible for higher total serum cholesterol levels which is responsible for heart diseases.

Dwarkaites please exercise daily:

First of all we need to convince ourselves why exercising is so important, somehow I have a view that Dwarkaites just should not complaint. They have plenty of green parks & walk ways. I consider regular exercise as an Investment to yourself which is the only thing going to pay off during our old age. So one should make a habit & stick to daily routine. They are so many gyms in Dwarka, sport complex, Swimming Pools, health clubs, Yoga centers. Just join the one which suits you more & fits into your schedule. Here are some other benefits which might help you convince why it is so important.

Now If I had to pick a single factor that I thought was most important in a successful exercise or weight loss program, it would be to exercise first thing in the morning - every morning! Some mornings, you may just be able to fit in a 10 minute walk, but it's important to try to do something every morning.

1. Over 90% of people who exercise regularly & consistetly, exercise in the morning. If you want to exercise consistently, odds are in your favor if you exercise first thing in the morning.

2. When you exercise early in the morning, it kick starts metabolism of your body and keeps it at higher level for hours, sometimes up the entire day! That means you're burning more calories all day long just because you exercised in the morning!

3. When you exercise in the morning you'll be "energized" for the day! Personally, I feel dramatically different on days when I have and haven't exercised in the morning.

4. Many people find that morning exercise "regulates" their appetite for the day - that they aren't as hungry and that they make better food choices. Several people have told me that it puts them in a "healthy mindset."

5. If you exercise at about the same time every morning, and ideally wake-up at about the same time on a regular basis, your body's endocrine system and circadian rhythms adjust to that.Physiologically, some wonderful things begin to happen; A couple of hours *before* you awaken, your body begins to prepare for waking and exercise because it "knows" it's about to happen. Why?
Because it "knows" you do the same thing just about everyday. You benefit from that in several ways..

a) It's MUCH easier to wake-up. When you wake-up at different times everyday, it confuses your body and thus it's never really "prepared" to awaken.

b) Your metabolism and all the hormones involved in activity and exercise begin to elevate while you're sleeping. Thus, you feel more alert, energized, and ready to exercise when you do wake-up.

c) Hormones prepare your body for exercise by regulating blood pressure, heart rate, blood flow to muscles, etc.

6. For many people, that appointed time every morning becomes something they look forward to.

It's time they've set aside to do something good for themselves - to take care of their body, mind, and soul. Many find that it's a great time to think clearly, pray, plan their day, or just relax mentally.

7. Research has demonstrated that exercise increases mental acuity. On average it lasts four to ten hours after exercise! No sense in wasting that brain power while you're sleeping. :)

8. Exercise first thing in the morning is really the only way to assure that something else won't crowd exercise out of your schedule. When your days get hectic, exercise usually takes a back seat!

9. If finding time to exercise is difficult, anyone can get up 30 to 60 minutes earlier to exercise (if it's a priority in your life). If necessary, you can go to sleep a little earlier.

Also, research has demonstrated that people who exercise on a regular basis have a higher quality of sleep and thus require less sleep!

10. You'll feel GREAT! You will find everything around you great. You will enjoy your life. You will make more friends with your positive attitude towards life.
